With personnel spread across 12 vessels and more than 40 certifications per person to track, IKM Subsea was running their entire scheduling operation from a shared Excel workbook. Cert expiry dates lived in a separate spreadsheet maintained by one coordinator. When that coordinator was on leave, renewals were missed. When vessels changed assignments last-minute, the cascading updates to the schedule took hours. The company had experienced two HSE near-misses related to personnel working with lapsed certifications — a situation they could not allow to continue.
IKM Subsea went live on Markular Planner and People in four days. All 450 employee profiles, their 18,000+ certification records, and the vessel schedules were imported by the Markular onboarding team. Coordinators attended a single 90-minute training session; after that, the old spreadsheets were switched off. The People module consolidates all employee certificates and training records in one place, giving coordinators a clear view of who is certified for each job. Planner draws directly from this data and prevents assignment of personnel who lack the required certifications — making compliance a default outcome rather than a manual check.
